PURPOSE:To check the propriety of the error correction data at a high speed by reproducing a syndrome from the correction data consisting of an error position and an error amount and collating the syndrome with an original one. CONSTITUTION:A memory 10 stores temporarily the received codes, and a syndrome producing circuit 11 produces a syndrome based on a check matrix. While an error correction data calculating part 12 obtains an answer of a prescribed error location equation from the syndrome produced by the circuit 11 and calculates an error position and an error amount. A syndrome reproducing circuit 13 reproduces a syndrome from said error position and error amount obtained by the part 12. A collating part 14 collates the reproduced syndrome of the circuit 13 with an original syndrome delivered from the circuit 11. If the coincidence is obtained from said collation, it is decided that the correction of an error is possible. Then a correcting circuit 15 gives the correction to the received code of the memory 10 by the correction indicating signal given from the part 14 and according to the error position and the error amount obtained from the part 12. |
