PURPOSE:To prevent skid marks produced on heated steel member by a method in which partition walls composed of permeable refractory mterials are installed in parallel with skids fitted in the furnace, and radiant heat is irradiated directionally. CONSTITUTION:Steel member 1 is transported onto the skids 2 of a furnace, then heated by a burner 6. Partition walls 8 partially or totally composed of the permeable refractory materials are installed singularly or plurally in parallel with the skids 2 underneath heating zones 3 and 4 of the heating furnace. The walls 8 are formed in such a way that refractory bricks 10 are first piled up from a hearth 9, and on the top of them the permeable refractory materials like ceramic honeycomb 11 are piled. As the gas heat in the furnace is directly exchanged in passing through the said refractory materials 11, the materials 11 are heated almost up to the temperature of the gas in the furance. The heated materials 11 directionally irradiate their radiant heat to each part where steel member 1 contacts with the skids 2, and heat the said part selectively. By this method occurrence of skid marks is prevented. |
