A protective device against radioactive rays has at least two cuboid elements which are filled with water and made from a fabric coated with an elastomeric material and which are set up one behind the other at a right angle to the direction of the rays and have a width overall which suffices to absorb the radioactive rays in the water. Mounted on the free end faces of the elements is at least one support element made from a rubberised pile fabric which can be inflated at the place of use. <IMAGE>
