The invention essentially relates to an apparatus for the cleaning of heat transfer surfaces arranged in a flue gas shaft and exposed to combustion gases, in which cleaning particles, preferably consisting of steel balls or steel shot, fall against the said surfaces and dislodge the adherent dirt particles. The object of the invention is essentially to provide an apparatus with which a uniform, dry and periodic cleaning can be effected even of those heat transfer surfaces which hitherto had to undergo "wet cleaning" or for other reasons do not permit a stationary apparatus with a filter plant connected after it. This object is achieved according to the invention in that when the plant is inoperative at least one distributor device (3) is detachably installed above the heat transfer surfaces (2) and a collecting funnel (4) blocking the whole cross-section of the flue gas shaft (17) at this place is detachably installed as a collecting device below the heat transfer surfaces (2), and they are respectively connected by conveying ducts (7,8,9,25), which are flexible and of changeable position and length, to the separating device (5) and the forwarding fan (6). <IMAGE>
