A compound represented by a free acid of the formula: wherein D is (R1 and R2 independently represent hydrogen, methyl or methoxy) or (n is 0 or 1, the mark * signifies the position of linkage to -N=N- and the mark # signifies the position of linkage to Q mentioned below); Q is -SO2CH=CH2 or -SO2CH2CH2R (R is a group capable of being split off by the action of alkali); one of X1 and X2 is hydrogen and the other is a sulfonic acid group; and m is 0 or 1, which is useful for dyeing cellulose fibers a blue-black color with good dyeability and excellent fastnesses, particularly chlorine fastness.
