The incandescent bulb is a conventional bulb, but is modified such that a bimetallic element is installed in the shaft of the same. This design saves the installation of a flashing transmitter relay. The bimetallic element rests in contact, that is to say in the cooled state is aligned such that it bulges inwards, which means that the circuit is closed. If the flasher lever is now operated, a current supply via the bulb socket is ensured which heats the bimetallic device in the bulb, bulges it outwards, interrupts the closed circuit, and the incandescent bulb is no longer illuminated. The bimetallic device now cools and bends back into its original position. The circuit is closed again, and the bulb illuminates again. This process repeats itself until the flasher lever is moved back into the "OFF" position. In order to achieve reliable coincidence of the end of the bimetallic device and the end of the power supply lead, there is a groove at the end of the power supply lead, into which groove the bimetallic device can be inserted during closing.
