The invention relates to a seal for pitched-roof windows, which is located on the bottom edge of the window pane between the window pane and the window frame. The window pane lies on this seal in a narrow region. This narrow bearing region is according to the invention kept free from moisture and any moisture which nevertheless penetrates is quickly caused to flow off or evaporate by good ventilation. The good ventilation is achieved in that the pane rests on somewhat projecting parts, such as e.g. knobs, between which there are recesses which are connected to the external air. Additionally, any condensation water forming and running down on the inside of the window pane is diverted, by a sealing lip pointing upwards on the seal, downwards to the inside of the window frame, from where the water is collected in a collecting plate covering the front side of the window case and conducted to the outside between the closing joint between window frame and collecting plate. <IMAGE>
