A leaf valve for fitting in a fluid line of an internal combustion engine comprises a plurality of identical sector plates which are supported in the wall of the valve housing on radial journals. In the closed position the wide faces of the sector plates stand perpendicular to the flow. By turning the plates by means of a set collar an increasing aperture cross-section is freed.
