A process is proposed for producing radiator covers on which webs are arranged in the manner of ribs, perpendicularly and at equal intervals on a perforated plate. In this process, perforated sheet-metal plates with parallel rows of holes in the longitudinal direction and a corresponding number of webs with plug-in pegs on their edge facing the plate are fed to a plurality of pairs of pressure rolls in which the pegs are pushed through the holes in the plates and the protruding portions of the pegs are expanded to clamp the parts together. The peg portions protruding from the plate are preferably split by appropriate rollers and then rolled out in the manner of rivets. The sheet-steel radiator covers produced by this process can be manufactured more cheaply than corresponding extruded aluminium sections, with the same dimensional stability.
