[Also in Division F1] A reversible rotary-piston pneumatic-motor of the outwardly-sliding radial-vane type is controlled by a two-way inlet-valve that comprises a pair of balls 7, Fig. 1, lodged in a housing 6. To start the motor, one or other of the balls 7 is dislodged from a corresponding bore 10 by a pin (18), Fig. 4 (not shown), to allow compressedair to enter the motor through one of two hoses 4, 5, the pin being attached to a rotatable sleeve (13), Fig. 3 (not shown), surrounding a lubrieating-oil reservoir 9. Air is ejected to the atmosphere from the low-pressure side of the motor through one or other of a pair of chambers 21 containing non-return ball valvemembers (25) and passage (23), in a body (19). The inoperative valve-member (25) is kept in a closed position by air flowing through the body (19) towards the motor. The valve-members (25) are biased towards an open position by a compression-spring 24 lodged therebetween. Oil in the reservoir 9 is entrained with the compressed-air to effect lubrication of the motor. Alternatively, one or other of the balls 7 is dislodged from the corresponding bore 10 by a flat blade (33), Fig. 6 (not shown), which is attached to a rotatable handle (32), Fig. 8 (not shown). The valve-members (25) may be replaced by a pair of spring-biased valve-members 39, Fig. 2, one or other of which is moved to an open position, according to the desired direction of rotation, by compressed-air displacing a piston 42 attached thereto whereby exhaust air can escape from the motor into the atmosphere through a passage (46), Fig. 8. The motor may also include a brake that is released when the pressure of the air on the inlet side of the motor is adequate to displace the corresponding piston 42 and move the associated valve-member 39 to an open position.</p> |
