Honing tool for internal or external cylindrical surfaces, with a supporting basic body (10) and a clamping bush (36) which is connected in an oscillating manner to this basic body (10) and is provided with a conical clamping surface (52) for an elastically expandable supporting sleeve (54) which carries the honing sticks (58). An adjusting nut (28) supported on the basic body (10) or the clamping sleeve (72, Fig. 4) acts via a distance piece (31) on the supporting sleeve (54) for clamping on the clamping bush (36), as a result of which the supporting sleeve (54) is widened to the desired working diameter. Compared with a hydraulic expanding system, this mechanical construction has the advantage that the clamping forces are absorbed by the basic body (10) at least in the working area of the tool, which results in greater freedom of oscillating motion of the supporting sleeve (54). In addition, the supporting sleeve (54) can be of split construction, which results in a greater expanding range. <IMAGE>
