Shade is intended for covering a glass-enclosed space such as a conservatory. It comprises a flexible foldable screen which is movably supported by lateral sectional guides and can be lowered and raised by means of pull cables secured at opposite ends of a weighted transverse member at the end of the screen. The screen is provided with transverse stiffening elements with (plastic, e.g. polyamide) slide blocks at their ends movable in the (e.g. aluminium) guides, the arrangement pref. being such that, when pulled up, the screen folds zig-zag fashion at the upper end of the inclined roof. The cables may be wound on and off a tubular core rotatable by a crank or motor drive.
