PURPOSE:To provide an inexpensive press device with which shut height can be changed easily in short time by the constitution in which pressing plates supported via a screw shaft to an upper frame are screwed by means of a relative screw to a spacer plate interposed between the upper frame and said plates. CONSTITUTION:Plural disc-shaped pressing plates 71 are supported in parallel by a screw shaft 74 to an upper frame 6 of a press device which ascends and descends at a specified stroke with respect to a bolster (not shown). The plates 71 and an annular spacer 72 which is interposed between said plates and the frame 6 and contacts with the bottom surface of the frame 6 are screwed by means of a relative screw 73 screwably and unscrewably to constitute a shut height adjusting mechanism 7. The mechanism 7 is constituted to perform easily the adjustment operation with the screw 73 in short time by providing a screw shaft 74 supporting the plates 71 in such a way that the shaft can be projected and retreated through the aperture 67 of the bottom plate 65 of the frame 6 via a screw shaft 75a when a screw handle 75 provided to the supporting plate 76 of the frame 6 is operated.
