PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF CATALYSTS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF UNSATURATED HYDROCARBONS FROM CARBON MONOXIDE HYDROGEN MIXTURES

A catalyst support, which has been impregnated with acetylacetonates of the transition metals, preferably of iron, cobalt and manganese, and with promoters and has been finished in a hydrogen stream at elevated temperature, consists of activated cokes having a high proportion of micropores of less than 1 mm and also macropores between 800 and 5000 mm and has a tap density of 370 - 430 kg/m<3> and a BET surface area according to DIN 66 131 of 1000 - 1400 m<2>/g and is treated after the impregnation in a hydrogen stream at a space velocity of 900 h<-><1> and a temperature of 350 DEG C. The catalysts are used with gas mixtures, which contain carbon monoxide and hydrogen in a ratio of 2:1 to 1:1 and are passed over the catalysts at space velocities between 500 and 1000 h<-><1> at temperatures of 300 - 400 DEG C and pressures of 1 - 20 bar, to produce ethylene and/or propylene gas mixtures.
