PURPOSE:To attain seek of an object track by transmitting serial data indicating an object track from a disc controller to a driver and calculating the number of control tracks to move a head in a faster speed at the intermediate track. CONSTITUTION:When a floppy disc controller 2 requests seek to the driver 1, serial data is transmitted from a data transmitter 7 and given to a serial data receiver 8 via one signal line constituting an interface cable 3. A comparison means provided to the disc driver 1 compares serial data representing a track number of movement destination with a present track where the head is placed at present to obtain a track number to be moved. Then a carriage driving mechanism 6 seeks the head based on the moving track number. The seek speed of the head is slow at the start and faster at the intermediate track. The high access speed is attained by decreasing the seek time. |
