发明名称 MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM AND ITS PRODUCTION
摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain a long-life magnetic recording medium having a protective lubricating layer which is particularly highly resistant to friction and wear by providing a thin layer of fatty acid amide on the surface of the magnetic recording body (magnetic layer) of a magnetic recording medium. CONSTITUTION:Higher fatty acid amide, for example, stearic amide, which has good adsorptivity and has a high transition point is formed by vapor deposition, etc. to about 100Angstrom thickness on the surface of a magnetic layer formed on a base film, particularly a thin magnetic metallic film consisting principally of Co to form a protective lubricating layer. Coating and drying of an org. solvent of fatty acid amide are not preferable as the adjustment of the thickness of the film is difficult and the residual solvent is oxidized with friction by which the lubricating characteristic is deteriorated. The still reproduction life is thus considerably improved by providing the higher fatty acid film and the good resistance to friction and abrasion stable to the high frictional heat generated in the stage of high speed relative movement between a magnetic head and a magnetic head is thus provided.
