In a wicketed side sealed bag of flexible thermoplastic material with its rear panel having an extended lip 16 with wicket holes 18a, 18b therein, side sealed marginal extensions 21a, 21b of the front bag panel confront the extended lip, the length of the extensions extending the side seals 13a, 13b beyond the bag mouth such that forces imposed on the bag mouth during loading of a product into the bag, while wicketed, act on the side seals below their extended termination points. During product loading, the bag preferentially tears at the wicket holes rather than at the side seal termination points. Preferably, the side seal termination points are at or above the tops of the wicket holes. <IMAGE> |
