NEW MATERIAL:A compound shown by the formula I [A is lower alkyl, group shown by the formula II (R1-R3 are H, or lower alkyl; n is 1, or 2), or group shown by the formula III; B and Y are H, or lower alkyl]. EXAMPLE:Sodium 1-methyl-azulene-3-sulfonate. USE:An anti-inflammatory agent, and antitumor agent. Having improved antipepsin action and antitumor action. PREPARATION:A compound shown by the formula IV is sulfonated and made into a sodium salt, to give a compound shown by the formula I . The sulfonation is usually carried out by adding sulfuric acid to it in acetic anhydride under cooling, or the compound is obtained by using sulfuric acid anhydride pyridine complex. The prepared sulfonated compound is purified by the use of an aqueous solution of NaOH, or sodium ethylate to give the desired compound. The commound has chemical stability and improved medicinal effect.
