PURPOSE:To shorten the axial dimension of a fuel injection pump and the whole governor of a Diesel engine by locating a governor drive mechanism in a place apart from the drive shaft for fuel injection pump viewed in the radial direction. CONSTITUTION:A gear 10 on a drive shaft 25 of a fuel injection pump 15 is meshed with a gear 11 on the drive shaft 35 of a lubricant pump, and a boss 53 of a weight support 52 of the governor 51 is fitted with spline teeth 50 at the backward projecting portion of said drive shaft 35. This arrangement, in which the governor drive mechanism is located apart from the drive shaft 25 of fuel injection pump vieweed in the radial direction, should eliminate necessity for providing the shaft 25 with any extensional portion for the purpose of driving the governor, which will allow shortening of the axial length of the device. |
