PURPOSE:To prevent an engine from being damaged by overrotation by connecting rev count control means to speed change control characteristic change means. CONSTITUTION:A rev count control means is connected to speed change control characteristic change means, thereby to limit in such a manner that a shift-down zone of a speed change control characteristic after offset change will not exceed a specified rev count of an engine. This arrangement can keep the rev count of an engine from being increased more than a specified value with an offset change, which can prevent an engine from being damaged by over rotation.
