PURPOSE:To measure exactly and safely a film thickness to any base material by consending a transmitting light and a reflected light of infrared rays, respectively, and calculating its film thickness from both light quantities. CONSTITUTION:An extruding coating resin layer 2 is provided on an ink layer 9 which is difficult to be transmitted through, on a transparent base material 1, a transmitting part of infrared rays 4 from a light source 3, and a reflected part are detected by a detecting part 5' and a detecting part 5, respectively, and each detecting signal is digitized by interfaces 6', 6 and transmitted to a microcomputer 7. The computer 7 calculates a thickness of the extruding coating resin by a contrast to a sample of a known thickness by using the Lambert-Beer's law. In this way, with regard to an object to be measured of an all transmitting type and an all reflecting type, its thickness can be measured. |
