N-SUBSTITUTED IMINODIACETIC ACIDS New compounds having the formula < IMG > or a pharmaceutically acceptable, water soluble salt thereof, wherein R1 and R4 are each independently hydrogen, methyl or ethyl; one of R2 and R3 is alkyl of 1 to 4 carbons and the other is bromine or iodine; and n is 0, 1 or 2, when complexed with technetium-99m in the presence of a reducing agent provide compositions which are useful for the external imaging of the hepatobiliary system.
