PURPOSE:To eliminate an accident when transfer paper is received by using no pressure roll, and rotating a timing roller so that the transfer paper moved having a specific swelling over the peripheral surface of a transfer drum until the front end of the transfer paper passes a transfer position. CONSTITUTION:The transfer paper is sent in continuously until a gripper 11 reaches the transfer position while the transfer paper is made slack by being sent in the gripper 11 to more than length necessary for gripping. The transfer paper comes into close contact with the peripheral surface of a transfer drum 9 strongly by a transfer charger 14 behind the transfer position 13. Consequently, the front end of the transfer paper is gripped accurately with the gripper 11 and prevented from falling and jamming.
