PURPOSE:To enhance the efficiency of printing by omitting wasteful type section time for undefined codes by a method in which when undefined code is detected in printing data, printing is made soon by leaving the portion blanked. CONSTITUTION:In a printer 1, printing data D from a processor 5 are received by a controller 7, but an error such as changing of printing code 30 to code 40 by any cause could occur. The code 40 is undefined code and no type is present on a drum 2. When the printing data D is received, in a judging section 8, reference is made to table, and type position data Ksp-Ksp corresponding to printing codes 00-40, KA for example, is taken out and printed through a print controller 3. When undefined code 40 is detected in the printing data D, type position data Ksp for selecting spaces is retrieved and blank printing is made. |
