PURPOSE:To make printing at optimum printing speeds according to power source by a method in which whether a cell as the power source of a printer is used or a commercial power source is used is detected, and printing speeds are switched. CONSTITUTION:In driving a printer by a cell 22, the cell 22 is set in the typewriter 5, and the power source switch is turned on to make it printable. Since a connector 15 is not inserted into a plug port 16 in this case, the switch of a detector 21 is turned off, the moving speed of a carriage 10 is delayed by a controller, and printing is made at slow speeds, thus lengthening the usable period of the cell. In driving the printer by commercial power source, the plug 19 of AC adaptor 14 is connected to commercial power source, the connector 15 is inserted into the plug port 16, and the switch of the power source is turned on. In this case, the detector 21 is turned ON, the carriage 10 is moved at high speeds, and printing is made at high speeds. |
