PURPOSE:To improve wear-resistance of a tool by brazing cemented carbide chip to a tool body at a temperature above a specified value and forming a hard coat on the above chip surface by an ion plating method at a temperature below a specified value. CONSTITUTION:In a cutting tool in which a cemented carbide chip is brazed to a tool body, and a hard coat is coated on the chip, after the cemented carbide chip is brazed on the tool body at a temperature above 600 deg.C, the hard coat is formed on the chip surface by ion plating method at a temperature below 500 deg.C. In this case, the above hard coat is formed of one of TiC, Al2O3 and TiN, or a lamination layer of one or two of TiC, Al2O3, and TiN, which can prevent generation of a fragile layer on the surface under the hard coat, difference in position of the cemented carbide chip or occurrence of abnormality at the brazing portion so as to improve wear-resistance of the tool. |
