The motor vehicle door handle mechanism catch and its actuating lever are held so that several actuating variants are possible. Central actuating arrangement can be used and emergency inner opening feature can be provided. In this case the opening is ensured without releasing a blocking arrangement. Between a front and rear plate is fitted a U-shaped catch (14) and pivot pin (12) and claw (15). The catch is held by these components in locked position. A spring encloses the second pivot pin and brings the claw into contact with the catch. The spring is held in a plastics moulding between front and rear plate. This moulding has cylindrical part for forming handle bearing.
