PURPOSE:To increase the absorption of light in an emulsion having a high Br content while keeping the satisfactory developability by forming core-shell particles having a clear double structure. CONSTITUTION:The latent image forming efficiency of an emulsion is enhanced by providing a clear lamellar structure consisting of a high AgBr layer as the core and a high AgCl layer as the shell to the particles in the emulsion. When the particles have the two-layered structure, a diffraction maximum due to the silver halides in the high Br layer and a diffraction maximum due to the silver halides in the low Br layer appear and the diffraction curve has two peaks. The diffraction intensity of the peak corresponding to the high Br layer is 1/10-10/1 of the diffraction intensity of the peak corresponding to the low Br layer. The silver halides in the core are practically silver bromide and the silver bromide content in the core is 50-100mol%. The silver halides in the shell are practically silver chloride and the silver chloride content in the shell is 50-100mol%. The preferred silver bromide content in the core-shell structure is 20-90mol%. |
