The rifle grenade is equipped with a firing mechanism and has a rotary barrel with an annular portion, typically of stainless steel, protruding from it. The barrel is supported in the safe position on the edges of the passage leading to the explosive charge. In the safe position, this annular portion bears against a first fixed stop preventing any rotation of the barrel in the wrong direction when freed by the striker. It can also rest against a second stop on the grenade body, retaining the barrel in the operating position. The tailpipe of the grenade, by which it is mounted on the rifle barrel, may have a propellant gas outlet, so angled as to give maximum inclination to the grenade at the start of its trajectory.
|
