PURPOSE:To attain miniaturization of the titled apparatus and to improve the reliability by applying an AC field to an optical deflector made of crystal material having electrooptical effect to modulate optically an infrared ray passed therethrough. CONSTITUTION:The radiated infrared rays are collected by an objective lens of a head 1, and made to a parallel beam by a collimator 4 through an optical fiber 3. Next, said beam is modulated optically by the optical deflector 11 made of crystal material having electrooptical effect to which the AC field is impressed from an AC source 12, and is converted to an electrical signal corresponding to the infrared rays intensity by a collimator 8, a photodetecting element 9 and a demodulating signal processing device 10. By this constitution in which a motor driven chopper for optical modulation is made unnecessary, the infrared ray detecting apparatus can be miniaturized and the reliability can be improved. |
