A fan type file for holding the cards of a card index system consists of a number of cards (A) to (F) each folded to form an edge (2). The folded edge (2) divides the card into two unequal zones (1a, 1b). The outer edge (4) of the smaller zone is folded inwards whilst the cards are joined to one another along the edge of the larger zone. The folded edge has a number of slots (3) to receive identification tags. When the lower surfaces of the outer cards (A) and (F) are pressed together the folded edges (4) act as fulcrums and cause the upper parts of the cards to splay outwards like a fan and provide easy access to the information on the cards. |
