<p>The resistive feeler is inserted in the thermometer outer metal case. Its ends are soldered to the leads, and a ceramic insulator insulates them from each other and from the case which is sealed. A recess is made in one end of the thermometer by removing a part of the ceramic material and/or of the leads. The recess bottom is transversal to the thermometer axis, and a hole is drilled in the recess bottom, whose dia. is greater than the sensor dia. The sensor is then inserted into the hole with the resistance wire ends projecting into the recess, and the space between the sensor and hole walls is filled with a refractory material which is hardened, resistance wire ends soldered to the leads, the rest of the recess filled with refractory ceramic material, and the case firmly closed by a cap.</p> |
