PURPOSE:To provide a thermal transfer recorder capable of recording an image with uniform density, by a method wherein a circuit for discriminating the recording history of a recording paper with a recorded picture element as a unit is provided, and the heating value of a thermal head is controlled in accordance with the presence or absence of the previous recording with the recorded picture element as a unit. CONSTITUTION:In a thermal transfer color recorder for recording a color image by thermally transferring thermal transfer inks of different color tones repeatedly and overlappingly, whether or not an ink is previously thermally transferred is discriminated for each picture element at the time of the second and later thermal transfer recording. When no ink is present at a picture element, the heating value of the heating element corresponding to the picture element is increased to facilitate the transfer of the ink to a paper 5, and on the other hand, when the ink 6 is previously tranferred at a picture element, the heating value of the heating element corresponding to the picture element is decreased. Accordingly, thermal transfer of the ink can be effected easily even when the heating value of the heating element is decreased. |
