PURPOSE:To reduce the concn. of Si and Al in a molten Fe-Mn alloy by adding an alkali or alkaline earth metallic oxide or halide as a flux to the molten alloy and blowing an oxidizing gas. CONSTITUTION:To a molten Fe-Mn alloy are added one or more kinds of compounds selected among alkali and alkaline earth metallic oxides and halides such as NaCl, KCl, CaO and MgO as a flux. At the same time, an oxidizing gas such as air is blown from the top or bottom. By this method an Fe-Mn alloy contg. <=0.005% Si and Al is stably obtd. |
