PURPOSE:To make it possible to carry out electronic control for Diesel-engines, by providing flame sensors in the combustion chamber and auxiliary chamber of an engine to observe the ignition timing, the spreading speed of flame and the light amount of all flames so that the combustion is optimumly controlled. CONSTITUTION:In an engine control device utilizing flame sensors, the head section of a main space 7 in a combustion chamber 7 is provided with a flame sensor 11, and an auxiliary chamber 8 is provided therein with an injector 12 and a flame sensor 11. A computing control circuit 15 receives signals from these sensors 11 together with a signal from a crank angle sensor 14, and delivers a computed output with which a fuel pump 16 connected to an injector 12 is driven to adjust the amount of fuel and injection timing for controlling combustion. In this device the combustion flame 17 is at first caught by the flame sensor 11 in the auxiliary chamber 8 to know the spark timing, burning time and light inensity data, and then the combustion spreading into the main space 7 is similarly observed by the flame sensor 11 in the main chamber 7 so that the high degree of combustion control may be realized. |
