<p>The formulation of such material is derived from that of the octatitanate of potassium having the formula K2 Ti8 O17, wherein the titanium ions at the oxidation degree 4 are partially substituted by metal cations which are stable in octahedral site and which have an oxidation degree lower than 4, the charge compensation, because of said substitution, being effected by introducing additional alkaline ions selected among sodium, potassium and lithium. The diaphragms made from those materials are particularly usable in electrolyzers operating at a temperature comprised between 120 and 200oC and of which the electrolyte is concentrated potash.</p> |
