PURPOSE:To form an extremely thin polymer film excellent in gas permeability coefficient and gas separation factor, by casting a hydrocarbon solution containing a 1-monoalkyldimethylsilylpropyne polymer and a nonionic surfactant on the surface of water. CONSTITUTION:In a hydrocarbon solvent of a b.p. of about 30-99 deg.C (e.g., petroleum ether or benzene) are dissolved about 0.01-5wt% 1-monoalkyldimethylsilylpropyne polymer comprising repeating units of the formula (wherein R is a 1-4C alkyl), optionally together with an equal or smaller amount of another film-forming polymer, for example, vinyltrimethylsilane polymer, and about 0.0001-0.1wt% nonionic surfactant (HLB of about 1-10), e.g., sorbitan trioleate. The resulting solution (about 20-50 deg.C) is added dropwise to the surface of water (about 5-30 deg.C) and allowed to spread on the surface of water. At the same time, the solvent is separated by evaporation to form an extremely thin polymer film. |
