<p>A sign stand comprises a mast (4) which in one end thereof is connected to a container (6) and in the opposite end thereof supports a sign (5) or the like. At a relatively short distance from the end which supports the container (6) the mast (4) is pivotally connected to a support assembly (1, 2) in such a manner that it can be swung up from a substantially horizontal position to a vertical position. This pivoting movement is effected by introducing preferably water into the container and the weight of the water contributes to keep the mast in said vertical position and to withstand forces caused by for instance wind pressure on the sign (5). The mast is easily lowered by removing the water from the container.</p> |
