A chargeless electro-photographic process comprises coating a photo-conductive sheet with an insulating liquid and thereafter imagewise exposing to produce an electrostatic latent image. The image may then be developed by toner in a liquid carrier. It is stated that such a coating process produces a soft tone developed image, whereas the prior art method of coating after exposure and before development produces a hard tone. Apparatus for selectively coating before or after exposure comprises rollers 9, 10 supported by a pivoted lever 8 and partially immersed in insulating-liquid tanks 6, 7. A sheet 4, transported by a suction carriage 5, is exposed at 4A; being pre- or after-treated with insulating liquid by operating a rod 8a. |
