<p>PURPOSE:To facilitate the control of backward movement of a tractor upon coupling to a trailer, and as well to enable the tractor to take turning motion similar to common vehicles upon disengaging of the trailer, by providing the rear wheels of the tractor so that the rear wheels may be associated with and be released from the front wheels thereof. CONSTITUTION:Power from an engine 27 drives the rear wheels 13 of a tractor section 5 through a transmission shaft 21 so that a coupled vehicle 1 travels. A trailer section 3 and the tractor section 5 are locked with respect to the relative horizontal rotation so that they travel as if one unit vehicle in the horizontal plane, and as well, when the front wheels 17 and rear wheels 13 of the tractor section 5 are associated and are steered, the forward and backward turnings may be smoothly carried out with no jack-knife motion as is in common two front axle truck vehicle. When the track section solely runs after the trailer section 3 is disengaged, the rear wheels 13 are released from the association with the front wheels 17 in steering motion, and as well the steering operation is fixed.</p> |
