1. Safety device for hook-shaped load engaging elements (1) of lifting devices having a sliding safety member (2) taking the load position when actuated by a spring (3). In said locked position jaw opening (4) of lifting device is closed thus preventing an unwanted engagement or disengagement of load where the safety member is set manually in an open position by means of a flexible traction component (5) and an operating device (6) wherein the said flexible traction component consists of a rigid yet bendable wire rope (5) being positioned deflection-free nearly parallel to the load-engaging element, inserted with its one end (7) into the socket-type (2) safety member fixed by the deformation of the socket and thus kept in its correct position.
