APPARATUS FOR REMOVING CORES OF CASTINGS BY VIBRATORY OSCILLATIONS

The core removal apparatus (1) is comprised of a portal-shaped carrier frame (2) of which the uprights (4) and the support brackets (5) carry each a bearing (7) on which there is arranged by means of a swivelling lever (9) a reception device (11) which is pendularly suspended and free to swivel. Said device has two longitudinal arms (14 and 15) on which there are provided two vibration generators (23) and two stop strips (20), respectively an impact plate (19), a reception opening (16) being arranged between the latter and at the rear portion of said opening a plurality of support ribs (17) are provided. A casting (a) loosely introduced into the reception opening (16) and the reception device (11) is subjected to vibratory oscillations by the vibration generator (23). Since these vibrations are also induced in the casting (a), the latter is rapidly and loosely moved with a reciprocating motion between the impact plate (19) and the stop strips (20) inside a delimited play space (c), violently impacting them. Owing to this arrangement and to the vibrations induced in the casting (a), the sand cores contained therein are reduced to sand which then falls down.
