Drafting or engraving device comprising a first carriage unit (1) with freely displaceable carriages. A second carriage unit (10) is fixed to the first carriage unit and comprises two carriages (16, 18) which are driven by a motor, one of them carrying a work head (20). Measured distance value detectors (9, 19) enable to determine the actual respective co-ordinates of the work head and to compare them in a calculating unit (38) with the predetermined co-ordinates that the work head must run to draw a predetermined line element. In the case of a difference between the instant co-ordinates and the predetermined co-ordinates, a regulation device (40) is activated and drives the carriages of the second carriage unit by means of their drive units so as to compensate for the detected differences and to cause the manually guided work head to follow the preset co-ordinates. |
