PURPOSE:To produce a resin mold friction material excellent in abrasion resistance and a coefficient of friction and improved in fading property, by employing a specified friction modifier as one of the materials. CONSTITUTION:A friction modifier is prepared by uniformly dispersing a reinforcing fiber (e.g., glass fiber, carbon fiber, polyamide fiber, or metal fiber) in a liquid cashew dust resin obtained by condensing cashew nut shell liquor with formaldehyde, curing the resulting dispersion in the presence of a catalyst (e.g., hexamethylenetetramine), and grinding the cured product to a desired particle size. About 35-45wt% asbestos is mixed with about 8-12wt% thermosetting resin (e.g., phenolic resin), about 9-18wt% above friction modifier, about 6- 10wt% graphite, and about 20-35wt% other inorganic additives (e.g., talc), and the resulting composition is molded into any desired form by application of pressure and heat. |
