PURPOSE:To obtain a static and dynamic picture with sharp and high stability by correcting the deterioration of a reproduced picture caused by nonlinear distortion of a VTR and a magnetic tape in a device recording and reproducing picture data such as ultrasonic wave diagnostic device or the like. CONSTITUTION:A composite video signal outputted at reproduction of a VTR6 is separated (53) into a video signal and a reference signal. The distortion of a video signal to be displayed on a monitor 4 is corrected by a distortion correcting circuit 54 based on the distortion of the separated reference signal. That is, the separated reference signal is received, the reproduced distortion at each gradation is recognized from the level and also distortion correction is applied to the separated video signal at each gradation based on the reproduced distortion at each gradation and the result is outputted. The signal subject to correction obtained in this way is fed to a DSC3 and stored once in a frame memory 32 of the DSC3. After this is read and formed again into the composite video signal, the result is displayed as a picture while being given to the monitor 4 so as to correct the nonlinear distortion of a magnetic tape for video recording and the VTR6 thereby reproducing a sharp picture. |
