PURPOSE:To prevent knocking of an engine in a reliable manner, by supplying only the intake air cooled by a cooler to the trailing side of a work chamber at the end of the suction stroke from the time when a low-load intake port is closed to the time when a high-load intake port is closed. CONSTITUTION:A low-load intake port 6 and a high-load intake port 7 are formed in a side housing 3 which constitutes a casing 1 together with a rotor housing 2. These intake ports 6, 7 are communicated respectively with a low- load intake passage 14 and a high-load intake passage 15 which are in turn communicated with an intake passage 12 having a supercharger 13. Further, the high-load intake passage 15 has a cooler 19 which is connected to a cooling- water passage 20. At the end of the suction stroke of an engine from the time when the low-load intake port 6 is closed to the time when the high-load intake port 7 is closed, only the cooled supercharging air is supplied to the trailing side of a work chamber 5. With such an arrangement, it is enabled to prevent knocking of the engine in a reliable manner. |
