<p>PURPOSE:To attain the optical input of coordinates without using a pad having a chekered pattern, etc. by using a means which decides both the shift amount and the direction of a coordinate input device in accordance with the photodetecting information obtained by a photodetecting element. CONSTITUTION:The white dots 3 are printed equidistantly on a black background on the surface of a ball 2. The space between dots 3 is prescribed so that the number of dots with which the photodetecting elements can be recognized at a time by the reflected light given from the surface of the ball 2 is limited within two. Both a light emitting element 6 and a photodetecting element 7 are set at a place near the top of the ball 2 together with an angle adjustment so that the reflected light of the light irradiated to the surface of the ball 2 by the element 6 can be received by the element 7. A pattern of the dot image contained in the reflected light received by the element 7 is recognized at every unit time. Then both the shift amount and the direction of the main body 1 can be decided from the variation of said pattern.</p> |
