PURPOSE:To prevent an oversight of factors of a fault and to improve the reliability of a diagnosis system for plant fault by extracting a fundamental one out of observed phenomena and estimating the factors of a fault according to the extracted fundamental phenomenon. CONSTITUTION:A plant fault diagnosis device consists of an electronic computer 1, a CRT terminal device 2 and a DISK3. The DISK3 stores the knowledge showing the cause and effect relationship between a fault generated at a plant and its factor. The computer 1 performs the fault diagnosis by means of a hypothesis setting function and a hypothesis testing function. The hypothesis setting function sets a phenomenon (hypothesis) which is possibly equal to the fault factor from the fault phenomenon observed at the plant; while the hypothesis testing function decides the propriety of the hypothesis through a CRT terminal device 2 while talking to a user. Thus a fundamental one is extracted out of the observed fault phenomena, and the fault factor is estimated based on said fundamental phenomenon. |
