This invention provides certain naphthalenylimidazo compounds of the formula

<Chemistry id="chema02" num="0002"><Image id="ia02" he="26" wi="83" file="IMGA0002.TIF" imgContent="chem" imgFormat="TIFF" inline="no" /></Chemistry>or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, wherein:
each of R<Sub>1</Sub> and R<Sub>2</Sub> is independently hydrogen, C<Sub>1</Sub>-C<Sub>4</Sub> alkyl, C<Sub>1</Sub>-C<Sub>4</Sub> alkoxy, allyloxy, propargyloxy, benzyloxy, (C<Sub>1</Sub>-C<Sub>4</Sub> alkyl)thio, (C<Sub>1</Sub>-C<Sub>4</Sub> alkyl)sulfinyl, (C<Sub>1</Sub>-C<Sub>4</Sub> alkyl)sulfonyl, hydroxy, halo, cyano, nitro, amino, mono- or di-(C<Sub>1</Sub>-C<Sub>4</Sub> alkyl(amino, trifluoromethyl, or Z-Q-substituted C,-C<Sub>O</Sub> alkoxy, wherein Q is oxygen, sulfur, sulfinyl, sulfonyl, or a bond, and Z is C<Sub>1</Sub>-C<Sub>4</Sub> alkyl, phenyl or phenyl substituted with halo, C<Sub>1</Sub>-C<Sub>4</Sub> alkyl, C<Sub>1</Sub>-C<Sub>4</Sub> alkoxy, hydroxy, nitro, amino, (C<Sub>1</Sub>-C<Sub>4</Sub> alkyl)thio, (C<Sub>1</Sub>-C<Sub>4</Sub> alkyl)sulfinyl, or (C<Sub>1</Sub>-C<Sub>4</Sub> alkyl)-sulfonyl; and

G and D are both N or G is N and D is CH. The compounds are positive inotropic agents, bronchodilators, vasodilators. and anticoagulants.
