HIGH CAPACITY MERCURIC OXIDE CATHODE FOR PRIMARY CELL

A high capacity mercuric oxide (HgO) cathode for a non-rechargeable primary electrochemical cell is provided which contains (a) from about 2 to about 20 weight percent silver oxide (Ag2O) substantially uniformly distributed throughout the cathode mass and (b) from 0 to less than 1 weight percent graphite, said cathode being initially substantially free of reduced mercury oxide and silver oxide.
